On the weekend of September 27, 28 & 29 the members of the Sewell Fire Company sponsored a Fill The Boot For FDNY fund drive. It was a great success with $6,307.48 being collected!! Members enlisted the help of several area business's who collected donations from employee's and patrons. Members then manned position's at four area stores throughout the weekend and collected donations from patrons and passersby. The response was overwhelming! People driving past went out of their way to drive into the parking lots and up to us to make donations. One lady passing by drove into the parking lot and made a donation. She then circled the parking lot and came back to make another donation and to thank us for what we were doing and for being firefighters. The whole time she had tears running down her cheek.
Donations were also collected at the Mantua Township Fire Assocation's Annual FIre Prevention Week Open House.
All donations collected will be sent to the International Firefighters Association's New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund. All donations to this fund will provide financial assistance to the families of the firefighters who gave their lives in order to save others on September 11, 2001.
Business's participating were: Sewell WaWa, Sewell Heritage Dairy Store, Sewell Eckerd Drug, Timberline Shop N Bag, Electric Mobility, National Paintball, K-Tron Corporation, Colonial Bank, Newfield Bank, Woodstown Bank, Sewell Post Office, Ledden's Feed Store and Holly City Tire of Millville. Special Thanks goes to the Sewell WaWa who provided us with breakfast and lunch on Saturday & Sunday and to the Employees of K-Tron Corp. who donated $692.00.
